Why can I only choose 56 kbit/s when I export MP3 files?

Acoustica, AudioLava and LoopWorx use the mp3 codec delivered with Windows to decode and encode MP3 files. This filter does not allow higher bit rates than 56 kbit/s. To get higher bit rates and better audio quality export, we recommend to install the LAME MP3 encoder. LAME is free and you can download it from www.free-codecs.com/Lame_Encoder_download.htm (please make sure you choose the 32 bit version). Acoustica, AudioLava and LoopWorx automatically detect the LAME encoder when you copy the file lame_enc.dll to the windows system directory or to the program directory (usually found under “C:\Program Files\Acon Digital Media\…”).

Why do I get an error message when I try to open MP3 files?

Acoustica, AudioLava and LoopWorx make use of DirectShow to open MP3, WMA or Wave files. In some cases, third party DirectShow filters prevent the decoding in Acoustica from working properly. If you installed any codec packs or third party audio software before this problem occurred the first time, please try to uninstall the codec pack or third party software.

Acoustica

I get an error message when I try to record in Acoustica under Windows 8, 7 or Vista

Microsoft changed the audio architecture in Windows with the introduction of Windows Vista. Audio input lines are no longer reported to applications unless a source is physically connected. Please make sure that you have connected an audio source. If it still doesn’t work, you can check the “Device Settings…” from the “Options” menu. Make sure the correct audio recording device is selected in the corresponding list box.

Why can't I record the audio that is being played back under Windows 8, 7 or Vista?

The option to record the played audio signal is a feature of the sound card drivers and not Acoustica. Unfortunately, many hardware vendors have removed this feature in their Windows 7 and Vista drivers. In other cases you can enable the feature, please click here for instructions.
